Use the CAKESAFE Acrylic Disks to achieve perfectly crisp edges and even smooth sides on every cake. Each disk is marked with the size, so that organizing and finding the correct size disks is easy. This set of Disks contains two 6.5” Acrylic Disks. The .5” perimeter sizing is most commonly used for cakes that shrink LESS than 1/8" (or not at all,) and will be just buttercream, and not covered with fondant. In order to determine which size Acrylic Disk is best for your cake, measure the diameter of your finished cake and the bottom of your cake pans before ordering. Our general rule of thumb when it comes to choosing the best size Acrylic Disk is: .5" sizing: For cakes that shrink LESS than 1/8" (or not at all,) and will be just buttercream, and not covered with fondant. .25" sizing: For cakes that shrink MORE than 1/8" OR your cakes do not shrink, but you are planning to cover with fondant .00" sizing: For cakes that shrink MORE than 1/4" OR your cakes do not shrink and you are designing a “naked” cake. The 3/8" center hole in all of our Acrylic Disks help bakers to center their cake tiers on the disks by using a temporary dowel as they ice. If you do not chill your cakes before icing with the disks, you will need to put a temporary dowel through the disks and cake to make sure your layers do not shift. The center holes do not affect the performance of the disks, should you choose not to use them. Handle Acrylic Disks with care and hand wash with mild soap.
